Enjoy your favorite movies without having to spend a lot of time searching for the perfect subtitles. #Subtitle Downloader #Search Subtitle #Subtitle Database #Subtitle #Downloader #Finder
Even though most of us rely on streaming services to watch movies and TV shows, not everything can be found on said streaming platforms. If that's the case, there are a lot of other resources on the Internet that allow you to download your favorite movies (all legal, of course).
Downloading your own movies is all fine and good, but if you're also required to search for subtitles, then things can become a bit annoying. That's exactly why gSubs was created.
gSubs is a free, open-source, and cross-platform (works on Windows, macOS and Linux), Electron-based application that allows you to find the perfect subtitles for your movies.
From a user-experience perspective, things are quite straightforward. You simply drag and drop the videos or movies on gSubs' GUI, and then click the download button for the subtitle that perfectly fits them. No more browsing or selecting videos, no more searching online, in short, quite convenient.
If you want more details about gSubs' inner workings, know that it uses two sources to gather subtitles: SubDB and OpenSubtitles. Sure, there's a very small chance you won't find the subtitle you're looking for, but for the most part, that shouldn't be the case. The developers behind the app also plan on adding more sources in the future so, at least in theory, the app should become even better with time.
One of the neat tricks that gSubs can pull of is that it can instantly find subtitles for more than one movie. In short, it supports multiple file inputs, which means that you can drag and drop all the episodes of a specific season of a TV series.
The app is also localized in (currently) 10 languages which include English, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Turkish, Portuguese, Swedish, and Dutch.
We mentioned that you can simply drag and drop files to find subtitles, but you can also manually search for subtitles by typing in the name of the movie in the Search bar.
gSubs is a nice little app that should make the lives of people who download movies and watch them on their computers a lot easier. It may not be to everyone's liking since it's an Electron app and since it only uses two sources for downloading subtitles, but it's a good application nonetheless.
What's new in gSubs 1.0.3:
- Improvement:
- Update to latest Electron version, significant speed and performance improvement on startup and overall
