Modern and stylish calculator app that allows you to perform basic math operations, as well as other more advanced ones #Scientific Calculator #Calculator App #Perform Math Operation #Calculator #Math #Operation
Nowadays, almost all OSes have a built-in calculator app. There are also a lot of very competent online calculators, not to mention the fact that all smartphones also have them.
However, maybe you're bored of all of them and want a different calculator app on your Linux computer. If that's the case, then elcalc is not a bad choice.
elcalc is an Electron-based calculator designed to offer a valid alternative to other native solutions. It's also free, open-source, and cross-platform (works on Windows, macOS, and all Linux distributions thanks to its AppImage packaging).
It supports all the basic math operations one can expect from such an app, as well as a few scientific functions. These include power, square root, natural logarithm, cos, sin, tangent, and many more.
In terms of math constants, elcalc supports π (pi) and e.
Calculators are not only about the accuracy, they're also all about speed. There's nothing faster than being able to fully use all the calculator's functions from the keyboard. Thankfully, elcalc boasts complete keyboard support.
You can use the number keys on the keyboard to type numbers, +, -, * or x, /, ., ^, and e to type symbols. Enter or Return can be used to evaluate the equations, while Backspace or Delete are used to clear the calculator output.
Now, we know what you're thinking, why would you use an Electron-based app and not a native one? The reality is that this app doesn't offer a lot more than what your computer's default calculator is capable of offering.
It looks more modern, sure, and if you're thinking that it's slow because it's an Electron-based app, don't. While we will admit that it's not exactly the most lightweight app of this sort, it does look nice, and since it's built using WebAssembly, it's also blazing-fast.
