PinApp For Linux

Considering the fact that Linux has a plethora of formats (btrfs, ext2, ext4, xfs, crams, ext3, minix, deb, rpm, and many others such as flatpak, AppImage, snap, etc), there may be situations when some apps don't display proper shortcuts.

You can attempt to fix this potential problem with the help of a simple, little app called PinApp.

PinApp is a free and open-source, Linux-only application that allows you to create your own app shortcuts with ease. The way it works is quite straightforward: you install the app from Flathub, launch it, and press the "+" button in the upper left corner.

Next, you enter the app's name, a comment (optional), as well as a series of boolean and string values (such as application type, icon, executable, and so forth). Of course, you can also add a series of new boolean and string keys.

The app itself is quite straightforward, hence, getting to grips with it should pose many challenges even for beginner users. This is made even easier thanks to a clean and user-friendly GUI.

At the top, there's a "Add new app" button, a main menu on the right, and the three main tabs right underneath the toolbar (User, System, Flatpak). As you may have guessed, the first section displays all the app shortcuts created by you, the System displays all the default apps on your computer's system, and Flatpak displays all apps installed using this medium.

PinApp is a stylish, tiny, and surprisingly efficient application that allows you to create your own app shortcuts with no more than a few mouse clicks. It may not be as universally accepted as some app launchers (capable of doing the same thing), but it gets the job nicely nonetheless.
