Probably the most minimalist note taking app out there, Nanonote is all about simplicity and lack of distraction. #Notetaking App #Take Note #Note App #Note #Notetaking #Organization
When it comes to note-taking apps, simple is not always better, especially if your work demands a more complex workflow. However, there's no denying the fact that simple apps are usually very efficient at doing that one thing they're supposed to.
Nanonote is one note-taking app that's appropriately named, as it's as its even more stripped down than most simple, hum-drum note-taking apps.
It's free, open-source, and it comes with bespoke installers/binaries for Windows, macOS, and various Linux distributions.
Right from the start, Nanonote makes it very clear that it's all about simplicity. Upon first launching the app, you're greeted by a small welcome note that also goes through the app's minimal feature set (such as the ability to create check lists with "checkable" list entries).
If you're looking for some sort of menu bar, well, there isn't one. The only menu that the app has is the contextual menu. This might seem a bit strange at first, but it does give the app a very sleek (even though not exactly what one might call modern) look.
From the contextual menu, you can undo or redo actions, cut, copy, paste, or delete text, find text, as well as apply small edits to the selected text. It's also the place from where you can access the Settings section, which doesn't offer a lot in terms of configuration, but at least you're provided with the option to change the font.
One very nice feature is the fact that the app automatically saves everything you type.
By now, it should be quite clear that Nanonote was not designed for users who require a lot of modern features from their note-taking apps. It has no synchronization, it doesn't support multiple document formats (or images, for that matter), and it doesn't offer anything for advanced formatting.
