Effortlessly convert media files with the help of MystiQ, a simple GUI for the famous FFmpeg. #Media Converter #Convert Video File #Video Converter #Converter #FFmpeg #Convert
Having a good audio/video converter is a must, especially if you're in the habit of transferring such files to and from your devices. MystiQ is one such media conversion tool, a free and open-source app for both Linux and Windows. It has a non-impressive yet very functional Qt 5-based GUI and uses FFMPEG underneath.
Since the app uses FFmpeg, it's no surprise that it provides support for a wide range of media formats, both video and audio. What could pose a surprise, though, is the fact that it can also be used to perform some basic video editing procedures such as rotating or trimming a video, inserting subtitles, scaling the video, and so forth.
The app is very easy to use and even packs various presets. These should help you convert media files faster without sacrificing quality for compression, or vice-versa.
Other noteworthy features include the ability to perform audio conversion with the added option of extracting the audio from the videos, the ability to tweak various audio parameters (bit rate, sample rate, and so forth).
Some of the supported formats include MP4, WEBM, MKV, MP3, MOV, OGG, WAV, ASF, FLV, 3GP, M4A, and many others.
Since MystiQ is not exactly the most popular video conversion tool out there, there's a good chance it won't exist in your distro's software center. Nevertheless, you can get your hands on various formats such as AppImage, DEB and RPM from the project's GitHub releases page.
While it may not be a looker, MystiQ gets the job done. It's user-friendly enough to be used by beginners, yet it also allows enough control over the conversion process to keep advanced users happy.
