Identify songs directly from your computer's sound card or from an external source (via microphone) with the help of this nifty app. #Music Recognition #Identify Song #AudD App #Recognition #Indentify #Song
Have you ever felt the urgent need to find out what's the name of the song you've just heard? Of course you have, we all been there, and when that happens most people on this planet instantly think of grabbing their phone and opening Shazam. Music Radar is similar to Shazam, in the sense that it's a music recognition application, but one that's designed for Linux desktops.
Music Radar can help you swiftly identify the song's title, artist, album, and other similar information with no more a than a few clicks and without (usually) taking more than a couple of seconds of your time.
The app provides two main ways to record sounds or music. Upon first opening the app, you're provided with the option to choose where the sound comes from: microphone or speakers.
The microphone option allows you to record/capture sounds from all external sources, while the speakers option allows you to capture music coming from any app from the system. In short, anything that passes throught your computer's sound card, is picked up by Music Radar if you choose the "Speakers" option.
If you want even more details about how the magic happens, then you should know that Music Rader relies on the AudD API to capture the sound. AudD is a real-time music recognition service that has a database of well over 80 million songs, and some nifty technologies to capture content from a plethora of sources.
The AudD API provides a few trials per day, but by creating an AudD API and by providing the app with the required API, you can get unlimited access (meaning you can use it as many times as you want on a daily basis).
Music Radar may not be the most stylish app of this sort out there (you can't even compare it with most modern mobile apps of this sort when it comes to GUI effects and particles, and overall feel), but even so, it works flawlessly.
The star of the show here is the AudD service, which is a lot better and faster than we were expecting. Couple the AudD API with a simple GUI and there's no wonder that Music Radar is a very reliable music recognition app that's definitely worth trying out.
