Mousam For Linux

When it comes to weather apps on my computer, I usually like apps that mimic those on my mobile phone as much as possible.

Mousam is one such application, a beautiful GTK/Libadwaita tool built with Python, that is very similar to apps found on mobile OSes.

What I like most about Mousam is that it looks right at home on GNOME desktops (of which I'm a fan, I admit). Almost everything you ever need is right there in front of you.

The app displays the real-time temperature, the humidity levels, the wind speed, the UV index, the pressure, and more. Every stat is neatly paired with cool, stylish graphical representations (icons and whatnot).

The app also displays the 7-day forecast, as well as a more detailed hourly forecast for the next 24 hours, again, very similar to something you might find on a mobile OS.

The layout is clear, everything is perfectly visible, and the overall design suits the app nicely. There's a lot of information on display, that's true, but everything is nicely laid out.

Even though the app allows you to view the forecast in either metric or imperial systems, in terms of customization, that's really not enough. I would have preferred a dark mode, for instance, as well as maybe a bit more in terms of system integration (top bar integration, for instance).

Clearly, the GUI design is the star of the show when it comes to this app. Even though the GUI itself could be better (at with the help of some customization options), I really enjoyed the app as is. It's a nice little weather app that doesn't feel out of place on Linux desktops (but it looks particularly nice on GNOME desktops).
