Improve or change the scaling factor on your system with the help of this simple app that allows you to run a script for this specific task #Fractional Scaling #Scaling Factor Changer #Change Monitor Scaling #Scaling #DPI #Fixer
HiDPI Fixer is a Linux app specifically designed to help all those who want to tweak their system's DPI settings and fractional scaling settings.
In short, it's a small open-source utility that allows you to create a script in order to allow fractional scaling of your display and its components in X11. If done right, the end result should be an improved look of your system's DPI.
HiDPI Fixer is a Qt-app (developed with the popular Qt framework for desktop, embedded and mobile devices), and it's only provided in AppImage form.
HiDPI Fixer uses a combination of GNOME's scaling-factor setting and xrandr commands. What that means is that the app calculates the necessary resolution in order to obtain the desired scaling factor. It then uses the xrandr command to register and apply the new resolution.
The app has been tested on GNOME, Deepin Desktop, and KDE (however, please note that you need to set the scaling factor to 200% in both Deepin and KDE).
The app is designed to run the generated script each time you log in (the script and commands are saved into a *.sh file for all of your connected displays), and it can also be used to modify the ~/.profile file to correctly scale most Qt-based apps (similar to how KDE does).
Even though this app can be a godsend for some users who have the required expertise to create scripts, it's not perfect. For instance, some apps (one example being WPS Office) completely ignore the system's DPI settings.
In some situations, xrandr might not be able to handle/use resolutions larger than what your computer screen's native resolution is (which, in turn, might result in a BAD MATCH error).
What's new in HiDPI Fixer 1.4.0:
- If you have used this app before, please note that there are no changes in this release compared to previous versions.
- The only difference is that I am now using GitHub actions to automate AppImage generation. I also want to display a version that does not have a pre-release tag assigned to it.
