For developers, there are few things less annoying than having to repeat commands over and over, especially if they happen to get in the way of productivity.
This is one of the reasons Gaucho was developed. Gaucho is a free, open-source, and cross-platform (works on Windows, macOS, and Linux) task launcher.
The main purpose of Gaucho is to help you run apps, commands, and potential scripts as fast and as efficiently as possible. This means less Terminal sessions, less typing, less context switching, and ultimately more space on the screen.
Instead of having to open a Terminal for, let's say, starting a server or running a script, you can now add them into Gaucho's GUI, and perform them with a single mouse click.
One of the best aspects of Gaucho is its stylish and modern GUI. It has a tab-based GUI which allows you to organize and stack tasks in various tabs.
It's also remarkably user-friendly as well. Simply pick a name for any task, type the desired commands (just like you would in your Terminal), set any env variables and the path (if needed), and that's about it. Each time you want to run a script or command, simply hit the "Run" button next to each individual task. You can also pause the tasks, or stop them altogether.
Other noteworthy features include some nice-to-have GUI themes, the ability to run multiple tasks as once, the option to import and export tasks, as well as schedule said tasks.
Taking everything into account, Gaucho is a very interesting productivity tool. Considering we're talking about a free and open-source tool that capable of making your life as a developer a lot easier by helping you cut down on the time spent repeating commands or scripts, it's actually a very awesome little app.
