A beautiful and super simplistic weather application for Linux built with Libadwaita. #Weather Application #Weather Forecast #Weather Utility #Weather #Forecast #Gradient
We all have the forecast accurately displayed on most of our mobile devices and smartwatches. Not only that but there are a lot of online apps that do a good job of telling the weather forecast.
However, a little weather app on the desktop can also prove quite useful, and if it also happens to be stylish, then all the better, right? Forecast is one such desktop app, a beautiful Libadwaita weather application build primarily for GNOME desktops.
First and foremost, it's important to note that Forecast is not what one might call a comprehensive weather app. Its main goal is to offer you the basic forecast information in your area (or any area on the globe, for that matter) while being as stylish as possible.
Truth be told, its looks are its greatest advantage, since the app really looks right at home on GNOME desktops, so much so that you might even think its a default app.
Not only is the GUI super simple and all the information is clearly displayed, but the app uses gradients to add an extra layer of visual effects. In short, it automatically applies a gradient based on current weather and time, and the result is quite awesome. This feature can be turned on or off from the Preferences section.
You can add as many cities and places you like, and the app displays the weather forecast in three hour increments (not the most reliable of methods).
You also get the local time, the real-world temperature based on various elements (Feels like), the wind's speed and direction, and the general humidity levels. The app also displays when the information was last updated.
As mentioned before, Forecast does not impress in terms of features, but its advantages are its simplicity and good looks. It's also not the most accurate app of this sort, since it displays the weather forecast in three hour increments, and there's not much weather information besides this (no daily and weekly forecast display).
