A cool, little emoji picker app that remembers your recent emoji picks and works on both Linux and Windows. #Emoji Picker #Emoji App #Emoji Selector #Emoji #Face #Emotion
Nowadays, the large majority of Linux distributions have built-in emoji pickers. Ubuntu is no exception, as it also has a built-in emoji picker that can be used to insert emojis/emoticons in most of its native (GTK) apps.
Feeling Finder is a fast and functional application that can help you use emojis a lot faster and easier in text communication. In terms of features, it can prove to be a bit better than what most OSes offer by default.
The app allows you to pick emojis from the Unicode spec, and you can browse emojis based on various categories such as Smileys & Emotion, People & Body, Animals & Nature, Food & Drink, Travel & Places, Activities, Objects, Symbols, and Flags.
You can effortlessly find emojis using the built-in search bar and hovering over an emoji will immediately activate a pop-up description. Emojis can be selected using both the cursor or the keyboard (by using the arrow keys for navigation), and the emojis are automatically copied to your computer's clipboard.
Another advantage comes in the form of the app's GUI themes. There are two themes to choose from: Light and Dark. You can also opt for the System theme option which will automatically emulate your system's theme.
Last but not least, from the Setting menu, you can enable the option that makes the app quit after copying an emoji from the clipboard.
Even though GUI is quite decent and fast, it doesn't perfectly fit with most Linux desktop environments. Even though it's capable of emulating your system's theme, it doesn't feel right at home on GNOME, for instance.
There's no global hotkey to activate the app, and that's a real shame.
Feeling Finder is a good alternative to the default emoji pickers of most Linux distributions. Whether you want an emoji picker that has more emojis, or a bit more organization built within, Feeling Finder is a pretty interesting choice and definitely worth trying out if you're passionate about emojis.
