Endeavour For Linux

The GNOME To Do is a decent, little personal task management app that gets the job done without too much fuss, as we're sure most Ubuntu users can attest.

Endeavour is a new app that features new branding, as well as new maintainership, and promises to deliver an improved experience over the app it replaces, the GNOME To Do.

The short answer is, that it depends. The new app is supposed to have a few improvements, fewer bugs, and a few more GUI translations. The first thing that's apparent is that the GUI is a lot more modern-looking.

You get a nice "utility" pane on the left, and the task list on the right (as opposed to the old layout with a top toolbar, and a task list underneath it). You're provided with various ways to display your tasks: Inbox (contains all tasks with no assigned dates), Today (all tasks with the date of today), and Next 7 Days (all tasks assigned to one of the next seven days).

You can also add as many tasks as you want, and organize them in as many lists as you require. In short, it's arguably a lot easier to create tasks, assign dates, add notes, rename task lists, and manage said task lists with Endeavor.

One neat little feature is that you can keep your notes and todos synchronized on your computer, or synchronize them with various cloud platforms. Of course, since it's free and open-source, you can also customize the experience via plugins, but that's something that advanced users will mostly do.

Last but not least, and even though there's no Settings section, you can choose between three GUI modes (Light and Dark, Dark, and Light).

If you're a fan of GNOME's To Do app, then there's a very good chance you'll also love Endeavour. It feels and looks a bit "fresher," even though it doesn't bring a lot more in terms of basic functionality.
