Get access to and control other desktop operating systems with the help of this useful app. #Remote Control #Remote Connection #Remote Desktop #Remote #Connection #Desktop
Remote desktop management apps are not a novelty anymore, and they're just as useful today as they were a decade or two ago. These type of apps have tons of benefits ranging from improving one's productivity to enhancing teamwork, and generally having the potential to make any work a bit easier.
There are a lot of efficient remote desktop management out there, but if you're running Linux (more specifically a distro that uses GNOME) and you're not particularly keen on having the most advanced features, then Connections (or GNOME Connections) is one app you should consider having.
As mentioned before, Connections is not designed to provide you with the latest and greatest features out there. Instead, it's primarily focused on streamlining your experience while connecting to other desktops.
The GUI is quite spartan (when compared to most other similar apps), yet modern-looking, and you don't get many options when it comes to connection protocols, just two: VNC (Virtual Network Client) and RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).
Still, both VNC and RDP are two of the most popular remote connection protocols out there, which means that you can easily connect to both Linux and Windows desktops, from your Linux machine.
To conclude, Connections is a decent remote desktop management app that will most likely be used in casual situations by users who want to help others solve various problems on their computers.
It doesn't have all the tricks and features of other, more advanced, or enterprise-oriented software of this type, but that's not a particularly bad thing.
Nevertheless, it's a fantastic app for beginners, and it even has a small yet useful guide that provides all the required information on how to connect to other desktops (click the Help button when adding a new connection to access it).
