Citations For Linux

Organizing and managing bibliographies is not something most people deal with on a regular basis, except maybe researchers, or students.

Nevertheless, there's a neat little application designed for exactly that - managing your bibliographies - and it's called Citations. It's a super stylish and modern application built specifically for the GNOME environment (even though it can be installed on all Linux distributions that have Flatpak/Flathub support enabled).

At heart, Citations is a very straightforward app. The GUI is designed to be as minimalist and as efficient as possible with a two main sections. The left panel is the place where you can scroll between multiple articles, and the right panel is the place where you can edit the details of said articles.

In the editor section, you can designate the citation type, citation key, the author, title, year of writing, and DOI. You can also edit various other properties such as the Journal, Volume, Number, Pages, Month, etc. There's also a section that allows you to write a summary of your citation, change the citation's format (plain, Markdown, or LaTeX), as well as add PDFs.

Citations was not designed to be groundbreaking or impressive, but instead the whole point of the app is to be as simple and as less distracting as possible.

If you're dealing with e plethora of bibliographies for your projects, and you're not against having one more app installed on your system, then there's really no reason why you shouldn't give Citations a quick try out.

The app is very pleasing to the eye, super simple to use, light on resources, and provides a structured way of organizing and managing vast numbers of bibliographies and all their associated details, information, and formats.
