Bootqt For Linux

Very good specialized apps for creating bootable drives are not exactly scarce. Hence, you could choose one of the popular ones out there, or opt for something a little less known such as Bootqt.

To answer this, it's important to note why Bootqt was developed. For starters, the app was built using Python and Qt technologies. Secondly, it's designed to integrate well with KDE Plasma. This combination alone should make it a viable option for anyone running Fedora, Manjaro, KDE Neon, openSUSE, and Kubuntu, just to name a few.

The app can create bootable USB drives from pretty much any ISO and IMG file. It's also free, open-source (so you can see the code for yourself), it's localized in 5 languages (English, Danish, German, Italian, and Turkish), and it's extremely lightweight.

Last but not least, it's dead easy to use: simply open the app, select the drive from the "Select Drive" list, select the image file, and then press "Prepare Drive." That's it.

There's no getting around the fact that there are a lot of better-looking apps of this sort out there. Some even offer a lot more features as well.

Other than that, there's really nothing wrong with Bootqt, but do keep in mind that it's an app designed for the KDE Plasma environment. For example, we tested it on Ubuntu 22.04 and the results were decent, as it managed to create a bootable drive, but the app crashed each time we wanted to see the details of the operation.

Bootqt is a lightweight, no-frills application that gets to job done as intended, even though it's nothing special both in terms of features or looks.
