Want to talk to ChatGPT, BAI Chat, Hugging Chat, and a plethora of other AI chat-bots directly from your Linux desktop? Bavarder has got you covered #ChatGPT Client #ChatGPT Desktop #AI Desktop App #ChatGPT #Hugging Chat #BAI
We all know by now about the wonder that is ChatGPT, and we've most probably all asked it a lot of silly questions such as "Will I ever find true love?," "Can February March?," or "Why did the tomato turn red?"
There are also a lot of apps that bring ChatGPT, alongside other similar AI chatbots, to our Linux, Windows, and even macOS desktops.
Bavarder is one such desktop app, and its purpose is to make ChatGPT (and other AI chatbots) a lot more accessible for the common folk.
Oh, and if you're wondering what kind of name is that, know that it's a French word that means "Parler abondamment de choses sans grande portée," which translates to "Talking a lot about things that don't matter." Spot on, right?
There are a few things that make Bavarder better than most other ChatGPT desktop apps. For starters, the app is written in Python, and it uses Libadwaita (the GNOME-specific version of GTK4) for its GUI.
This means that the app look and feels awesome to use, especially on GNOME desktops (even though it's not limited to just GNOME desktops).
Another reason why Bavarder is so good is that (at least at the time of testing) it provides you with quick access to a plethora of AI chatbots including the famous ChatGPT, BAI Chat, GPT-3.5, Hugging Chat, as well as others such as Alpaca-LoRA, DialoGPT, Google Flan T5 XXL, Google Flan U12, GPT 2, Open-Assistant SFT-1 12B Model, Star Coder and a few others (you can activate them from the Preferences menu).
Please keep in mind that some of these services may require you to enter an API key before you're able to use them through Bavarder.
Because the GUI is so minimalist, it's also very easy to use. The whole premise of the app is simple: you ask the AI chatbot something, you receive a reply and you can copy the answer to your clipboard with one click.
The questions/queries are typed in the top box/section, you click the blue "Send" button, and the reply is generated in the bottom box/section, and that's about it. Sadly, there's no "resend" button, but you can send your question/query again, and hopefully get a different result/answer.
If you're a Linux user, and you like the idea of having ChatGPT (and other AI chatbots) readily available to you on your desktop (and you don't want to use a browser for this), then Bavarder will for sure keep you entertained, and maybe, who knows, help you with a brilliant idea about some unique project you're working at.
