Arianna For Linux

Arianna is a free and open-source eBook reader and library management app built for the KDE desktop environment. It also works for most other Linux distributions (regardless of their DEs), just as long as flatpak/Flathub support is enabled.

Arianna looks and feels like a KDE app, which is not a bad thing, since KDE apps have a very minimalistic and clean look to them. Looks aside, the app is not what one might call groundbreaking, but it is very lightweight, fast, and super user-friendly.

To be honest, neither. Arianna is not particularly brimming with features, but it does have a few good things going for it. For instance, the app is capable of discovering your eBooks automatically (if you're running KDE). You're also provided with a few basic ways to organize your eBook collection (sort by Author, Series, Publisher, Genres, and various tags/keywords).

The reader is fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. You get to select the zoom level for the reader, and there's a nice little search option that highlights searched words, and that's really about it.

In terms of customization, things are also decent, but not outstanding. You get a few options to tweak the appearance of the app (such as changing the maximum width, and the margin's dimensions). You can also change the font (or opt to use the publisher font), and tweak various aspects such as the line height, the colors, and so forth.

If you like the KDE aesthetic, or you're currently running KDE, then Arianna is not a bad choice, especially if you like minimalist apps. If, however, you're looking for the latest and greatest in terms of eBook reader apps, then it's best you look elsewhere.

The biggest drawback of Arianna, we think, is the fact that it doesn't support any eBook/comic book format except ePub.
