Xfce Terminal For Linux

Xfce Terminal is an open source, highly customizable and freely distributed graphical software project that has tailored specifically for the lightweight Xfce desktop environment, to act as the default terminal emulator utility. It can be used to run various commands in the Linux shell.

The app is different from similar products, as it uses multiple tabs per window and customizable toolbars, allows users to configure almost every aspect of the app, integrates well with the Xfce desktop environment, supports session management and real multihead.

Being standards compliant, the application can also be used on other open source desktop environments or window managers, such as GNOME, MATE, Cinnamon, LXDE, Openbox or Fluxbox, and it has a small footprint, because of its D-Bus based terminal service facility.

Xfce Terminal is a complex application that offers powerful configuration options, which can be accessed by clicking on the Preferences entry under the Edit menu. Users will be able to configure general, appearance, colors, compatibility and advanced options (see the next section for details).

More specifically, you can change the application’s initial title or choose to set the title dynamically, to run a specific command as login shell, to update wtmp and utmp records when a command is executed, to enable scrolling of single lines using the Shift Up and Shift Down keys, to enable scrolling on output or keystroke, as well as to change the position of the scrollbar.

You can change the font, background and colors. Amogn the advanced options that can be configured, we can mention setting various characters as part of a word when double clicking, setting the default character encoding, disabling of all menu access keys, or disabling or menu shortcut keys.
