Yoper KDE4 For Linux

Yoper (Your Operating System) is an open source, independent and multipurpose distribution of Linux built from scratch, which means that it’s not based on any existing operating system. It comes in multiple editions, each one with a different graphical interface. Yoper KDE4 is built around the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

The KDE4 edition of Yoper Linux is distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that has been engineered to support both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures.

Users can let the ISO image to start automatically and run the live mode or press the ESC key to access the GRUB powered boot menu, from where they can start the installation with or without ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) support.

As mentioned, this Yoper edition is built around the KDE4 desktop environment, which has been designed to be user-friendly, comprised of a taskbar that allows you to access the main menu, configure virtual desktop settings, interact with running programs and system functions.

Being built around KDE, the operating system includes KDE-specific applications, such as the Amarok audio player, K3b CD/DVD burning software, SMPlayer video player, Okular document viewer, Kontact personal information manager, KOrganizer personal organizer, KWord word processor and KSpreed spreadsheet editor.

The KWrite and Kate advanced text editors, KNetworkManager network connection manager, Klipper clipboard manager, Gwenview image viewer, digiKam photo management program, show Foto image viewer and editor, Akregator feed reader, Konversation IRC client, KMail email client, KNode news reader, Konqueror and Mozilla Firefox web browsers are also included.

Unfortunately, the distribution is no longer under active development, which means that it will no longer receive software updates and security patches. It has been archived for historical reference purposes only.
