LinuxTLE For Linux

LinuxTLE is an open source distribution of Linux derived from the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and designed for Thai-speaking users. The distro was previously based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora OSes.

The user can download LinuxTLE directly from the project’s website or via Softpedia (see download link above) as a Live CD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for 32-bit (x86) hardware platforms. You can write the ISO image to either a CD disc or a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity.

From the boot menu, which will automatically start the live system in 10 seconds from the moment the user boots the ISO image from the BIOS of a PC, you can boot the live system, start the installer directly, run a memory test, boot from the local drive, as well as to check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a CD media).

LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) is in charge of the graphical desktop interface of LinuxTLE. It has been highly customized with a modern main menu, a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen and complete support for the Thai language.

Default applications include the Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, OpenOffice.org office suite, Rhythmbox music player, GIMP image editor, Brasero CD/DVD burining software, and Gedit text editor.

Unfortunately, the LinuxTLE distribution is no longer under active development and it won’t receive software updates, bugfixes and security patches. The latest version is based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) and has been archived for historical purpose only.
