Hymera For Linux

Hymera is an open source and feature-rich desktop-oriented operating system derived from the highly acclaimed and award-winning Debian GNU/Linux distribution. It is designed to be deployed on local simple environments or complex management infrastructures.

The operating system can be downloaded from Softpedia as a installable-only DVD ISO image of approximately 3GB in size, suitable for computers supporting the 32-bit or 64-bit instruction set architectures. The default language is English.

The DVD ISO image uses a unique, graphical installation system that requires users to accept the software license, configure the network, partition the disk, set up users and passwords and instal the bootloader.

The default and only desktop environment of Hymera is GNOME. It uses a beautiful layout that comprises of a panel located on the upper side of the screen, as well as a dock (application launcher) located on the bottom edge of the screen.

The distribution contains top-notch open source applications, among which we can mention the Abiword word processor, Gnumeric spreadsheet editor, OpenOffice.org and KOffice office suites, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger and MPlayer video player.

Unfortunately, Hymera’s last release was on September 10, 2009. It will no longer receive software updates or security patches and has been archived for historical purposes only.
