Dragora GNU/Linux-Libre For Linux

Dragora is an independent GNU/Linux-Libre operating system designed from the ground up to use only free-libre software, as well as to be as simple and easy to use as possible.

The operating system is available in multiple edition, as two installable-only CD ISO images for the 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) architectures, a Plus edition with extra software packages, and a special DVD edition that includes the distribution’s sources.

A very basic boot menu is provided for this independent distribution of Linux, where you can press the Enter key to boot or select an image of a kernel to boot (press the F2 key to view a complete list of available kernels).

Unfortunately, the distribution must be installed on a local disk drive in order to use it. You will be dropped to a shell prompt where you must type the “setup” command to start the text-mode installer.

During the installation, you will be asked to partition the disk, choose an installation source, select the software packages that you want to be installed, setup users and passwords, as well as to install a bootloader.

The default and only desktop environment included in Dragora is Xfce, which uses a traditional layout comprised of a top panel and bottom dock (application launcher).

As mentioned, the main emphasis of this Linux distribution is on libre software. It includes the Iceweasel web browser, Icedove email and news client, XChat IRC client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, and many others.

Dragora is developed entirely on a voluntary basis, it is published under the terms of the GNU General Public License, and respects the freedom of the user by including only free (libre) software, while providing control to those who use this Linux distro.
