CactiFans For Linux

CactiFans is an open source distribution of Linux based on the CentOS operating system and engineered in such a way that it allows you to easily deploy a customized version of the Cacti network monitoring and graphing software with minimum effort and in a shortest time as possible.

This custom CentOS flavor has been designed from the ground up as a server oriented operating system, which means that it is available for download only as CD ISO images that must be installed on a local drive. Supported architectures include 64-bit (x86_ 64) and 32-bit (i486).

From the minimal boot menu, the user can start the text-mode installer and permanently install the operating system on a local drive, rescue a broken system, as well as to boot an existing OS from the first disk drive.

Believe it or not, the operating will automatically install itself on a local drive, so make sure that you don’t have any important data on it, as it will erase all the content without asking you. The installer will copy the contents of the ISO image, install the bootloader, setup the system locale, timezone, clock, etc.

Some will see the automatic installation as a plus, but experts will consider it a minus, as they would like to set up themselves things like locale, timezone, keyboard map or where to install the bootloader, not to mention the automatic disk partitioning part that could destroy your important data.

Dubbed CactiFans Chinese edition, this Linux distribution features some of the best network monitoring software, among which we can mention Netflow and Syslog data collection tools, Nagios and Weathermaps. It also features support for auto discovery and reports.
