ArchVDR For Linux

ArchVDR is an open source and freely distributed computer operating system derived from the lightweigght and highly acclaimed Arch Linux distribution, powered by the Linux kernel and built around the VDR project.

The fact of the matter is that ArchVDR is not an actual operating system, it is a collection of utilities and a dedicated software repository that helps you to easily and quickly transform a healthy Arch Linux installation into a fully capable VDR (Video Disk Recording) system.

The project features various VDR PKGBUILD files that are originally ported from the VDR packages of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system and from e-tobi. It also contains official Arch Linux VDR PKGBUILD files.

With ArchVDR you can effortlessly build a budget VDR system that includes support for DVB-S2 and hardware accelerated HDTVs. The project is compatible with both 32 and 64-bit versions of the Arch Linux operating system.

Once again, we remind everyone that ArchVDR is not available for download as an ISO image, nor a virtual machine that you can test on a virtualization software, such as VirtualBox or VMware.

Unfortunately, the ArchVDR project appears to not be under active development anymore. This means that we don’t recommend to download any files, if available, and that the project has been archived for research purposes only.
