ArchOne KDE Edition For Linux

ArchOne KDE Edition is a special edition of the ArchOne Linux distribution, an open source operating system designed specifically for Acer Aspire One netbook computers. This edition used the KDE graphical desktop environment.

The KDE edition of ArchOne can be downloaded from Softpedia as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image that supports both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms. The ISO image fits on a DVD disc, but it can also be written on a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity.

The Live DVD boot menu is minimal, designed to allow you to only start the live system with normal configuration or in persistent mode with a predefined home directory. Keep in mind though, that the persistent mode only works is the ISO image is deployed on a USB device.

By default, users will be dropped to a shell prompt where they must login with the archone/archone username and password combination, then execute the “startx” command in order to access the graphical interface. KDE looks beautiful, traditional and clean on this special edition of ArchOne.

As expected from a distribution built around the KDE desktop environment, it comes pre-loaded with KDE-specific applications, such as the Konqueror web browser, Akregator news reader, KMail email client, Amarok music player, Dragon Player video player, Okular document viewer, Gwenview image viewer and Dolphin file manager.

Unfortunately, the KDE edition of ArchOne is no longer under active development, which means that it will no longer receive software updates and security patches. It has been archived for historical references purposes only. it should not be used on production machines!
