While most of users tend to use any "what's my ip" online services in order to find their IPs, having a desktop application capable of doing that on your devices is a lot faster, more convenient and potentially even safer.

What IP is one such application, a small and stylish Linux utility capable of providing various useful network-related stats and information. It's written using Python 3 and GTK (so it looks and feels like a modern app should), and it's completely free and open-source.

Of course, the main purpose of this app is to provide you with quick information regarding your device's IP for any network interface. The app also provides you with a quick way of copying information from its GUI to the clipboard.

Hence, if, for example, you want to check if your VPN is working as it should, What IP is a great app to help with that as it shows your IP address based on your location.

What's awesome about this little app is also the fact that it provides some basic information about your device's ports (provides you with a list of all the ports listening on your system), as well as the ability to check if they're publicly reachable.

Last but not least, What IP can also list all devices on your LAN, alongside with their respective host names, as well as some quick shortcuts for accessing them.

What IP can be installed on most Linux distributions via Flathub, and even comes with a dedicated AUR PPA for Arch Linux users. Of course, you can always browse the project's GitLab repository and build the app yourself.

What IP is a fantastic network information tool. It may not be the most advanced tool of this type out there, but for the average user, it should be more than enough.
