Execute Linux commands in another computer in your vicinity with just the private IP (or via a VPN connection) with the help of this nifty little app. #Execute Command #Run Remote Command #Python Socket App #Command #Execute #Remote
If you've ever worked with remote Linux systems, then you probably know that this are not as simple as logging to the remote host, performing some work, and then exiting session. And, the same goes running commands over SSH. In short, if you're a beginner user, all these concepts will seem very intimidating at first.
Thankfully, there are tons of very good tutorials and videos on the Internet that can really help you get started. Or, instead of tutorials and videos, you could try Please Run That.
Please Run That is a nifty and tiny app for connecting to another Linux (or macOS) computer and executing commands remotely.
To be more precise, it's a socket app (a Python socket app) that allows you to execute commands on your system without using a SSH server (and also without opening ports).
The real beauty of Please Run That is that it's an app specifically made for beginners and novices. Hence, it's remarkably easy-to-use (and also really fast). All you need is the remote computer's private IP, and that's about it.
The app can be installed from Flathub with just a few clicks (on computers with Flatpak and Flathub enabled), or directly from source (available on the app's GitHub repo).
In terms of features, one should not expect all that much. The app has a simple GUI that allows you to execute simple commands on the remote computer. The only real downside of the app (of course, not comparing it with other more advanced tools) is the fact that it doesn't offer much in terms of feedback. More to the point, the app doesn't show if the answers was received from the server of not.
Please Run That might seem way too simple for more advanced users, and that's to be expected. It wasn't designed for advanced users. It was designed for beginners, and the fact that you can perform an arguably complex task such as running/executing commands remotely with no more than a few mouse clicks, really is something worth appreciation.
