Share files and folders with other PCs on the same LAN network by relying on this user-friendly app. #Share Folder #Lan Sharing #LAN File Transfer #Sharing #LAN #Transfer
Nowadays, everything lives and breathes on the Internet. The Internet is not only a great medium for communication, but it's also the go-to environment for file sharing.
Of course, when it comes to moving around bulky files and folders between two or more computers, the Internet is not always the answer. For example, two or more computers on the same LAN network can exchange files a lot quicker and easier with the help of specialized apps.
LAN Share is one such application, a free, open-source, and cross-platform app (works on Windows and Linux) that allows you to transfer files and folders within your local area network.
LAN Share is built using the Qt GUI framework, making it look and feel at home on most Linux distributions. It's also a very lightweight and particularly user-friendly app.
One of the main advantages of LAN Share is the fact that it doesn't require much in the way of configuration. Just install the app on multiple computers, and you can start sharing files once the installer is over.
The GUI itself is not impressive looks-wise, but it's perfectly designed in terms of functionality. It has a top-bottom split view that provides a series of useful information such as file path, file size, status, and progress bars for the transfers.
As mentioned before, this is a very intuitive and user-friendly app. Naturally, to be able to transfer files or folders between two or more computers, you need to ensure that the computers are connected to the same local area network (wired or wireless, doesn't matter).
You need to ensure that the app is running on both the sender and the receiver computers. You can send one or more files or entire folders and even send them to multiple receiver computers at the same time.
Another benefit is the fact that you can cancel, pause, and resume operations while transferring.
In its current form, LAN Share is a very nice, little app that should prove valuable to all users who don't have particularly complex file sharing needs.
Sure, it's not the most modern-looking app, and we agree that it's also not exactly feature-packed (doesn't have advanced transfer options such as permission management, filters, and so forth).
However, the app shines when it comes to speed, ease of use, and reliability.
