TkmViewer For Linux

There are tons of very good system monitors for Linux out there. Starting with very lightweight command-line based apps of this sort, and ending with full-featured ones with stylish GUIs, there's a system monitor for everyone.

But, what if you want a system monitor for Linux that is also capable of outputting data in SQLite(3) and JSON formats? The answer comes in the form of TkmViewer, short for TaskMonitorViewer.

TkmViewer is a free and open-source app that provides a very stylish and highly functional GUI for TaskMonitor. In short, it helps you visualize output data from the taskmonitor daemon that both share the same developer.

According to its developer, TaskMonitor "collects performance indicators and sends the data out from the system for processing."

TkmViewer is designed to work with four set of tools: TaskMonitor (system deaemon that runs on the target system), LibTaskMomonitor (interaces to commounite with the daemon), TkmReader (reader that outputs data in SQLite and JSON formats), and Tkm-Collector (simple data collector that's SQL-based, and is used in CI systems).

The first, and most obvious aspect of TkmViewer is that it's not your typical "plug-and-play"-type of system monitor. It does require you to do a bit of reading and to install TaskMonitor before you can actually use it.

The app's GUI itself is very well made. The GUI is adaptive, and looks right at home on most modern Linux distributions, and there's even a dark mode avaialble.

Other than that, you get a very comprehensive system overview dashboard, a nice process and container data panel, as well as a plethora of other system information such as network usage, buddyinfo, disk stats, and so forth.

To conclude, TkmViewer is a very nice GUI app that allows you to monitor, report, and export performance indicators for embedded systems, as well as thoroughly visualize SQLite and JSON output data.
