Who said that GNOME shell extensions can't be super fun? Also, who said that cats can't possibly be helpful on Linux? Honestly, probably no one, but here we are, talking about RunCat.

What exactly is RunCat, you ask? It's one of the most ingenious and simplest GNOME Shell extensions out there. It displays an accurate representation of the CPU state. In short, it's an extension that displays CPU usage in real-time.

RunCat displays the CPU usage in two ways. Firstly, by running speed (yeah, the animated cat icon picks up the pace while running when the CPU is used at its fullest, and the cat goes to sleep when the CPU usage goes under a certain threshold).

Secondly, the extension displays the real-time CPU usage percentage.

Yeah, pretty much. But, hey, if you love cats, and you like seeing the CPU usage in real-time, then we're sure we don't have to convince you that this is a stellar little GNOME shell extension.

In terms of features, well, there aren't many. The extension also follows color schemes, and the cat goes to sleep automatically if the CPU usage drops below 5%. Of course, you can tweak the threshold as you see fit, and you can also choose between three, self-explanatory CPU usage display types: character and percentage, character only, and percentage only.

The best way to sum up this extension is by using a combination of words such as cute, adorable, funny, and useful. It's not often we get to see apps or software that are so hilariously useful, but RunCat is definitely one of them.
