NVIDIA System Monitor For Linux

Even though great strides have been made over the last couple of years to make Nvidia hardware more accessible on Linux, there's still a long way to go until Linux users will have everything available right out of the box.

It's also true that some NVIDIA drivers and components are indeed included in the standard Linux kernels of leading Linux distributions, but when it comes to having control over the processes of your Nvidia graphics card, you'll probably want to opt for a third-party solution.

As its name clearly states, Nvidia System Monitor (also called Nvidia System Monitor Qt) is a third-party, free, and open-source Linux task manager app for Nvidia GPUs.

Nvidia System Monitor pretty much acts as a bespoke task manager for your computer's Nvidia GPU.

You're provided with a plethora of useful information such as the number and name of all the currently running processes, as well as nice graphs that display the current GPU and dedicated memory utilization.

Better yet, you're also provided with a quick way of closing unwanted processes.

Nvidia System Monitor is a very lightweight app that can be installed directly from Flathub.

Apart from this, you can also build it directly from source (see GitHub repository page for more details), or using the dedicated installers for Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora from the Releases page.

There's also an AUR PPA for Arch Linux users.

Nvidia System Monitor might not be best one-stop solution for everyone with NVIDIA GPUs on Linux, but it's a very good little app for users looking for a bit more control over their GPUs.

It's a simple app that's really easy to install, and doesn't take up much space or resources.
