Effortless and securely generate passwords for various websites with the help of this nifty open-source password generator app #Password Generator #Generate Password #Create Passkey #Password #Generator #Generate
Most online password manager services offer the ability to generate strong passwords for your websites. However, if you're not a fan of online or cloud-based services for storing your passwords, you can very well install a local password generator.
One such tool is Forgetpass, and it's called this way because, it not only can generate strong passwords, but if you forget it, and you want to "retrieve" it, you simply have to enter the same data (same website and same keyword), and the app will grant the same password.
The main appeal of this app is, of course, its accessibility. As mentioned before, it's super easy to use. Just install the app, run it, enter the website name (the app recommends that you don't use prefixes and endings such as http, https, www., and .com, etc.), a keyword of your choosing, and that's about it.
The only thing to note here is that if you don't use a password manager, you'll have to remember the keyword and the website name in order to retrieve the same password (in case you forget it).
This might not seem ideal for some users, and that's understandable, as most of us want to have that safety of having our passwords securely stored in a place we can access them, preferably from multiple devices.
Forgetpass is a nice little Linux application, and what's nice about it is that it's free and open-source, and it looks nice on most modern Linux desktop environments, mostly thanks to its minimalist GUI.
Is it the perfect solution for password generation? It's definitely decent since it's fast and very accessible, but we wouldn't go as far as saying that everyone should use it. If you don't want your passwords to be stored anywhere (arguably, that's the safest option), you'll still have to remember a series of keywords and websites.
In this case, Forgetpass is quite good, and it does its job right.
