jZebra is an open source, free and platform-independent browser applet implemented in Java and designed from the ground up to be used for sending raw commands to your local printer. It includes a wide variety of features that have been listed at a glance in the next section of our review.
Key features include support for printing barcodes, receipts and various other things directly from a web page, support for sending various commands to a RAW, ASCII, EPL2, CHR, ESC/P or ZPLII printer, easy integration in commercial applications thanks to its open source license, as well as AJAX compatibility by using JavaScript to control print jobs.
The project supports advanced and basic HTML labels straight to a supported LaserJet, Zebra, Intermec, Citizen, Epson, as well as any other supported PostScript, thermal, label or magnetic card printers connected via parallel, serial, network, socket, COM, LPT, LPR or USB connections.

The jZebra applet has been successfully tested with all modern web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Chromium, Google Chrome, and Safari. It’s compatible with the GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X operating systems, supporting 64-bit and 32-bit installations.
To install and use the jZebra browser applet, download the latest version of the software from Softpedia or via the project’s official website (see link below), save the archive somewhere on your computer, unpack it, extract /dist folder from the /qz-print directory, open the sample.html file in a web browser (see the section above for supported web browsers), and look at the source code of the sample.html file for usage information.
