Foxit Reader For Linux

I was never a big fan of Adobe Acrobat Reader, but I have to admit that it's quite a shame that the product was discontinued for Linux somewhere around mid-2014.

Thankfully, there's an even better alternative and it's called Foxit Reader (also known as Foxit PDF Reader). Foxit Reader filled out the spot left empty by the disappearance of Acrobat Reader for Linux quite nicely, and it's (arguably) currently the industry's most powerful PDF reader solution.

There are multiple important reasons why Foxit Reader is currently one of the best (if not the best) PDF reader for Linux. For starters, it's part of the Foxit PDF Editor subscription packages.

Next, the app has quite a bit of history behind it, and has stood the test of time quite nicely via continuous evolutions. After all these years, the standalone Foxit Reader app is still free (even though it's closed source). What's more, it's available for pretty much all popular platforms.

Still, the reason why Foxit Reader is such a good app is because of its features. It's super lightweight, it's fast, it looks quite professional (albeit a bit bland) and it allows users to view, annotate, form fill and sign PDF documents.

Collaboration and sharing services also contribute towards making Foxit Reader one of the best apps in its class. The app allows you to integrate with a wide range of storage services and enterprise CMS. You can even provide feedback via a various annotation tools (as well as include images, videos, or files altogether).

Foxit Reader also allows you to sign documents. You can use your own handwriting or make use of eSignature. The Trust Manager, Safe Mode, ASLR and DEP, as well as other options such as disabling JavaScript and Security Warning dialogs make Foxit Reader way safer than most other PDF readers out there.
