GoblinX Standard Edition For Linux

g:Standard (GoblinX Standard Edition) is a freely distributed and open-source distribution of Linux based off of Imagineos (formerly GoblinX), which in turn in derived from the highly acclaimed Slackware Linux operating system. It is built around the KDE desktop environment and comes with standard applications.

The g:Standard operating system can be downloaded from Softpedia as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that fits like a glove on a CD disc. It can also be deployed to a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity, which can be later booted from the BIOS of a computer.

From the Live CD boot menu, the user can start the live system in graphics or text mode, as well as by copying the contents of the ISO image to RAM (system memory). It is also possible to start a fresh instance of the live system, as the default boot entries use a persistent mode, as well as to boot the operating system without user/root customization settings and change the root password.

As mentioned, the default graphical session is built around the KDE desktop environment, which uses a classic and productive two-panel layout, in the style of the GNOME Classic interface. You can launch your frequently used apps or access essential system functions from the top panel and use the bottom panel to interact with running programs and virtual workspaces.
