Secure-K Lite is a lite version of the Secure-K operating system, a portable GNU/Linux distribution designed from the offset to be extremely secure and easy to use by everyone. It's built to keep your personal information and sensitive data secure at all times.
Being a portable operating system, Secure-K can be used from any computer, no matter the operating system already installed. Just plug-in the USB key, boot Secure-K, and enjoy a secure and private computing experience where you're not tracked by anyone, nor you have to deal with viruses, spyware or other malware.
Secure-K promises to offer some unique features compared to similar operating systems, including total isolation from the host computer where you use Secure-K, data exchange partition for transferring files, encrypted email setup, encrypted real-time system backup, encrypted persistence, and complete system and kernel updates.
Secure-K comes with top-notch hardware compatibility, allowing users to use the secure operating system from virtually any computer, no matter if it uses Legacy BIOS, EFI, UEFI, or Secure Boot. Secure-K doesn't depend on the hardware architecture of the host computer, so you can run it on i386 and x86_64 machines.
This makes Secure-K ultra-portable, as all the information is stored to the USB key on which the operating system is written. That's why you'll need to write Secure-K on a USB flash drive of 8GB or higher in size, depending on your daily computing needs. Writing Secure-K to a USB key can be done from a Windows, Linux, or Mac computer.
The default desktop environment of the Secure-K operating system is GNOME, which has been highly customized to provide users with a modern computing experience. Most of the default GNOME apps are pre-installed, along with various other popular applications, including the Mozilla Firefox web browser and LibreOffice office suite.
Other noteworthy apps included in Secure-K are the open-source Chromium web browser, Tor Browser anonymous web browser, qTox Tox client, GIMP image editor, Electrum Bitcoin wallet, Scribus desktop publishing software, and DigitalArx, the enterprise-ready and secure file sync and share tool created by Mon-K.
As mentioned before, Secure-K Lite is a lite edition of Secure-K, which means that it includes some limitations. For example, you won't be able to define the persistence encryption by user, the system doesn't include a boot self-check mechanism for tampering detection, and the data exchange partition is only 256MB in size.
The full version of Secure-K, which will be available for purchase from the project's website, will let you expand the encrypted persistence to the whole USB key instead of the only 4GB in the Lite version, as well as the data exchange partition to up to 8GB instead of 256MB. Also, you'll get full email exchange support and unlimited kernel updates, as Lite version only offers a 60 days trial.
What's new in Secure-K Lite 18.5:
- Secure-K OS has moved it base operating system structures to Debian Stretch (it is
- built using the standard live-build framework, but the on-disk structure is deeply
- modified in order to allow kernel update, encrypted persistence, UEFI Secure boot and
- a cleartext data swap partition);
