LliureX Kids For Linux

xLliureX Lite is a lightweight edition of the LliureX educational distribution of Linux, which is based on the Edubuntu operating system and built around the Xfce desktop environment. It provides support for both Spanish and Enlish languages.

Being designed from the ground up to be a lightweight operating system, it is available for download as two Live CD ISO images of approximately 700MB in size each, one for each of the supported architectures (64-bit and 32-bit).

To use the distribution, you must download the appropriate edition for your computer, write the ISO image to a CD disc or a USB flash drive of 1GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of the PC.

The boot menu is the first thing you’ll see when you boot the Live CD. From here, you can try the operating system without installing it, start the graphical installer, perform a system memory test, boot an existing OS from the first disk, or check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a CD media).

As mentioned, the desktop environment of this lightweight LliureX edition is powered by Xfce. It uses a layout that is very similar with the one in the Client edition of the distribution.

As expected, the distro comes with a lightweight set of open source applications, such as the Mozilla Firefox web browser, VLC Media Player, LibreOffice office suite, Leafpad text editor and Thunar file manager.

Summing up, the Lite edition of LliureX Linux lives up to its name and provides users with a lightweight, fast and responsive operating system that includes only a few applications and an easy to use graphical desktop environment.
