Fedora AwesomeWM For Linux

Fedora AwesomeWM is an open-source spin of the Fedora Linux operating system built around the ultra fast and minimalistic awesome window manager. It includes the same amount of software like any other official Fedora Live edition.

Being based on the official Fedora Linux distribution, this custom spin is distributed as Live DVD ISO images that have approximately 1GB in size each. There are two Live DVDs, one for old computers supporting the 32-bit architecture and another one for modern 64-bit machines.

To create a bootable medium, download and write the ISO image that corresponds to your computer’s architecture on a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity (recommended), which can be later booted from the BIOS of a computer.

The AwesomeWM spin of Fedora Linux also inherits the Live DVD boot menu of the upstream release, allowing the user to try the distribution without installing anything on his or her computer. It will allow you to start the live system in safe graphics mode, perform a system memory check, as well as to boot an existing OS from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.

Fedora AwesomeWM’s design goal is to help you transform a very old computer into a reliable and very fast workstation. As mentioned, it uses the minimal awesome window manager as its default and only graphical desktop environment.

While the distribution comes pre-loaded with standard applications, it also contains some interesting additions, such as the Oracle VirtualBox virtualization software. To access the pre-installed apps, right click anywhere on the desktop. Supported languages include English and German.
