3du-Arch-Uni For Linux

3du-Arch-Uni is a pure, easy-to-use, easy-to-install and open source Arch Linux derivative designed for Russian-speaking users and comprised of several utilities from AUR, a custom made installer written in Bash, as well as a the lightweight Xfce graphical desktop environment.

Currently, the operating system is available for download for free as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms (32-bit and 64-bit). The ISOs are hybrid and can be written to either DVD discs or USB thumb drives of 1GB or higher capacity, which can be later used to boot the live system and use the distribution without installing it.

Be aware that if Russian is not your native language or you can’t read cyrillic characters, you won’t be able to use this operating system. The boot menu is simple and includes various options that allow you to start the live system with normal configuration or in safe graphics mode, perform a memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the local disk drive.

As mentioned, the distro uses the Xfce desktop environment for the graphical session, providing users with a traditional, classic layout that comprises of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen.

The default Xfce utilities are included in the live media, such as the PCManFM file mananger and Xarchiver archive manager. The XTerminal terminal emulator, 7-Zip FM file archiver and manager and Disks disk utility tool are also included.

Default applications include the ClamTk anti-virus scanner, medit text editor, Audacious audio player, GNOME MPlayer video player, Midnight Commander two-pane file manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Zenmap network scanner, PacmanXG package manager and Wine for running Windows applications.
