Launch all your games from under a single roof by relying on this nifty Linux game launcher. #Game Launcher #Launch Game #Game Client #Game #Launcher #Launch
Having to switch between multiple game launchers/clients to start various gaming titles may seem like a very "first-world problem" to have, but when dealing with large collections, it can be quite annoying.
Hence, what you need is an all-in-one game launcher, obviously. Now, gaming on Linux is a bit of an odd subject for most gamers, we know, but those who do happen to game on Linux, are most likely to appreciate Cartridges.
Cartridges is a free and open-source game launcher for Linux. It's available via Flathub (or Flatpak package, or you can build it from source yourself if you're up to it), it's written in Python and it uses GTK4 and Libadwaita.
What does this mean? It means that it looks and feels like a modern Linux app should.
It comes with support for Steam, Heroic Games, and you're even allowed to import games from Bottles, another fantastic app that allows you to run Windows apps (and games, with more or less work) on Linux.
It also provides you with the option of manually adding and editing gaming entries, it provides support for multiple Steam install locations, and thanks to its nifty GUI, it also allows you to hide games, as well as sort, search, and organize them to some extent.
Now, most modern game launchers also (usually) provide various ways to optimize the gaming experience. Sadly, Cartridges (which is still a very new project, mind you) cannot and does not provide the same level of complexity. Of course, there's nothing to say that this app won't be able to offer this in the future, but that's all up to the developer (and the possible community) behind it.
Cartridges won't impress anyone with its kit. Nevertheless, it's a lot more than just a launcher made to help you show off your impressive gaming collection thanks to its few, but useful features.
A very nice all-in-one game launcher for Linux that should get better with time.
