Top Bar Organizer For Linux

Do you ever wish that GNOME's top bar had a bit more to offer in terms of customization, let's say, maybe a way to move various functions/panels/icons/menus around?

If the answer is yes, then Top Bar Organizer is definitely worth checking out.

Top Bar Organizer is one of many very useful GNOME Shell extensions, and it allows you to, go figure, organize GNOME Shell top bar elements.

If it's still unclear what it does, then just know that with its help you can either hide menus and items from the GNOME top bar but, probably more interestingly, move them around.

Just like most GNOME Shell extensions, working with Top Bar Organizer is a walk in the park. From the extension's Settings menu, you can move items around in one of three "boxes" (Left Top Bar Box, Center Top Bar Box, and Right Top Bar Box).

Here are some examples: you can move the Quick Settings menu to the center of the top bar by moving it from the Right Top Bar Box to the Center Bar Box. Or, you can move date menu to the left side of the top bar, or move the Activities menu to the right side of the top bar.

All actions involve you having to drag and drop the displayed elements to one of the three boxes, and that's about it, as the changes are instantaneous.

Top Bar Organizer may not be impressive, but it does work flawlessly. In fact, it works so well, that it somewhat makes you wonder why isn't this a default feature in GNOME? Nevertheless, it's a fun and useful little extension that can improve your overall experience with  your desktop environment by doing simple "things."

The extension can be installed from it's EGO page, or even easier, with the help of the uber-awesome Extension Manager app.
