Do you use Bluetooth devices daily? Are you a fan of GNOME Shell extensions? If the answer is "yes" to both answers, then you might like Bluetooth Battery Meter.
The name pretty much says it all. Bluetooth Batter Meter is a nifty GNOME Shell extension that adds various meters for Bluetooth device battery levels in GNOME's Quick Settings. The meters provide detailed battery levels via both icons and text.
Those familiar with GNOME 45.0 know that you can already see the battery level for all connected devices in the Settings menu, Power Pane section.
Just like most GNOME Shell extensions, Bluetooth Battery Meter's whole purpose is to make your life a little bit easier and, you know, even ensure that your headset's battery won't die on you during an important meeting.
All things considered, Bluetooth Battery Meter is quite good. It conveys information via a series of nice icons (which are interchangeable), various dots, and text. For instance, 4 dots is 100-85% charge, 3 dots somewhere around 75% charge, 2 dots is around 50% charge, and 1 dot is around 25%. When the one dot turns red, it means that your Bluetooth device battery level is below 20%.
From the extension's settings menu, you can enable or disable the Bluetooth device battery indicators, as well as play around with a few Quick Menu-related settings.
Before I conclude, you should note that this extension only works on GNOME 45.0 (and above). Even so, there are some experimental features and there's always the possibility that certain Bluetooth devices won't work with this extension. In any case, you should check out the extension's Read Me section.
Also, keep in mind that the older your Bluetooth device is, the lower your chances of it working with this extension (maybe give the experimental Bluez feature a go and see what's what).
All things considered, Bluetooth Battery Meter is a great little GNOME Shell extension that should be quite helpful for users who rely on various Bluetooth devices for their work.
