App Hider For Linux

That said, let us ask you this - have you ever wanted to hide app shortcuts from the GNOME App Menu? If the answer is yes, then good news, App Hider is exactly what you need.

App Hider is a nifty GNOME Shell extension that allows you to hide any app shortcut that is present in the Applications grid. How, you ask? It couldn't be easier: simply right click any app (icon), and select "Hide." That's it.

Just like most GNOME extensions, App Hider can be installed from the EGO website or, even easier, by using the super-useful-and-awesome Extension Manager app.

If you're the type of person that doesn't mind having 300 apps on display in your Applications grid, then probably no. If, however, you like to keep your Applications grid as stylish and as tidy as possible, then this extension will for sure help you scratch that itch.

The extension can be installed on all of the most recent GNOME systems as it supports GNOME 42 and above (in short, if you're running any Ubuntu system higher than Ubuntu 22.04 LTS).

To unhide a shortcut, simply make your way towards the extension's settings menu, and simply click the "Unhide" button associated with each app that was previously hidden.

Please note that you might be required to log out and back in after the installation (just in case the "Hide" option doesn't appear in your Applications grid context menu).

App Hider is without a doubt a very niche extension, that is bound to cater to a smaller audience (when compared to some of the most popular GNOME Shell extensions out there).
