Today, April 4, 2016, Adam Jackson announced the release and immediate availability for download of the third maintenance build in the X.Org Server 1.18 stable series of the display server for GNU/Linux systems.

According to the release notes, which we've also attached at the end of the article for reference, X.Org Server 1.18.3 appears to be a small point release that fixes a total of eight issues reported by users since X.Org Serve 1.18.2.

"A few fixes relative to 1.18.2, including one fairly important performance fix to the Present extension. Thanks to all for fixes and testing," said Adam Jackson, senior software engineer, Red Hat.

Among the changes, we can notice two XWayland improvements, such as an attempt to support viewport in vidmode, as well as removal of any frequency data in the mode name.

Polaris PCI IDs have been added to DRI2, glamor received some improvements to alpha textures, the verbosity of GetModeLine debug messages was reduced for vidmode and Xext, and the hardware cursor is now hidden when needed for XFree86.

Last but not least, the LD_EXPORT_SYMBOLS_FLAG variable was re-added to LDFLAGS for the virtual frame buffer. You can download X.Org Server 1.18.3 sources right now via our website.
