The development team behind the Sabayon Linux computer operating system has made a habit of publishing new ISO builds of the OS at the end of a month for the one preceding it.

And so, today being the first day of February, we're happily informing our readers of the release of the Sabayon 16.02 Live ISO images that were published on the project's FTP servers last week, on January 28, 2016.

What's new? Mostly updates to many of the core components and applications, as Sabayon is always synchronized with the upstream software repositories of the Gentoo Linux project.

The official announcement of Sabayon 16.02 is pretty standard and includes the same information that was made available to users during last month's Sabayon 16.01 release.

"This is a monthly release generated, tested and published to mirrors by our build servers containing the latest and greatest collection of software available in the Entropy repositories," reads today's report.

While the GNOME edition of Sabayon Linux ships with the latest stable GNOME 3.18 desktop environment, the KDE flavors includes the Plasma 5.5.3 desktop environment and KDE Frameworks 5.18.0 collection of add-ons for Qt 5.

Sabayon Linux is a rolling-release distribution, which means that existing users will get these updates in real time from the official software repositories, but new users can grab the latest ISO images right now.
