Linux kernel 3.14.72 LTS is out for select Linux kernel-based operating systems that prefer to use a well-tested and long-term supported kernel, such as Google's Chrome OS. For example, on the Acer C740 Chromebook series, the latest Chrome OS 51.0 operating system is based on a kernel from the Linux 3.14.0 series.

Linux kernel 3.14.72 LTS is a small maintenance update that only changes 20 files, with 97 insertions and 55 deletions. According to the appended shortlog, the update fixes various minor issues for the EXT4 and XFS filesystems, improves support for MIPS and PowerPC (PPC) hardware architectures, and fixes stripping of padded MIC tokens for the SunRPC networking protocol.
