Famous digital photo-management application for KDE and Linux digiKam, which includes an image editor for photo corrections and manipulation, has just reached version 3.3.0.

The digiKam collection of tools has received yet another major update, integrating some pretty interesting features and a large number of fixes.

The most important new feature present in digiKam 3.3.0 is a new core implementation to manage faces, especially face recognition, which hasn't really worked in previous versions.

Also, the Face Tags interoperability with the Picasa photo manager has been greatly improved, the starting time has been reduced, users can now extract JPEG previews from RAW files during camera import, the editing RAW process has been greatly improved, and much more.

The complete changelog for digiKam can be found on the official website.
