Clonezilla Live, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that provides users with the tools to maintain and recover operating systems, has been updated to version 2.4.2-21 and is now ready for download and testing.

The Clonezilla project is undergoing some important changes in this release cycle, and it looks like the developers are not stopping here. For example, systemd was just included in the project, and now a new Linux kernel has been adopted.

"The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2015/Jul/15)," is noted in the official announcement. According to the changelog, the Linux kernel has been updated to version 4.0.8-1, when /home/partimag is a mount point, prep-ocsroot now uses "skip" as the default item, and a useless note about option "-z3" was removed.

A complete list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Clonezilla Live 2.4.2-21 right now from Softpedia and you can run it as a Live CD with no problems, but please keep in mind that this is not stable and it should not be used on production machines. Nonetheless, this is the most advanced version of the OS, so if you have any problems with the stable one, you might want to give this one a try.
