AMDGPU-Pro 16.30.3-315407 is now available for download

AMD has recently and quietly updated the stable AMDGPU-Pro 16.30 graphics driver announced at the end of June 2016 to also support the Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (Trusty Tahr) series of GNU/Linux operating systems.

The AMDGPU-Pro 16.30 graphics driver was initially released with support for the latest Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus) distribution and brought features like support for newer graphics cards, such as the AMD Radeon RX 480 and the R9 series. However, the driver only works with 64-bit versions of the supported Ubuntu OSes.

Release highlights of today's AMDGPU-PRO 16.30.3-315407 video driver update include support for the AMD Radeon RX 470, AMD Radeon R9 Fury X, AMD Radeon R9 Nano, AMD Radeon R9 390X, 390, 380X, 380, M395X, M385, M380, M270X, 360, 290X, 290, and 285, as well as AMD Radeon R7 260X and 260.

The AMDGPU-PRO 16.30.3 graphics driver also comes with basic display and power management features, support for the ADF (Atomic Display Framework) and KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) technologies, a GPL-compliant kernel module, and support for the OpenGL 4.5, GLX 1.4, OpenCL 1.2, Vulkan 1.0, and VDPAU (Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix) APIs.

Additionally, the video driver offers Vulkan support for the Dota 2 game and provides users with an install script and Debian packages that have been tested with the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) and Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating systems.
