The Windows themes for the Linux platform have been making a comeback recently and a lot of them are getting updated on a regular basis, just like Windows 8 modern UI.

This theme, Windows 8 modern UI (metro) Gtk3 (+Gtk2), has just reached version 0.4 and has implemented a few fixes that were necessary for Ubuntu users.

As it stands right now, the theme works on an array of desktop environments, including GNOME and Unity. The installation is rather simple and requires the user to make the necessary adjustments manually.

All you need to do is extract the theme, open a Nautilus instance with root access (sudo nautilus in a terminal), and move the theme folder to the required location.

For Ubuntu and other GNOME-powered distros you will have to copy the theme folder into /usr/share/theme. Use GNOME Tweak Tool to activate the theme.

Enjoy the Windows 8 modern UI (metro) Gtk3 (+Gtk2) theme.
